About This Course

Today’s workforce operates in a dynamic and complex environment. Priorities can change frequently, and stakeholder conflicts can quickly snowball into crises that can impact efficiency, productivity, and customer facing KPIs.

In this virtual, simulation driven workshop, participants will explore techniques and strategies to stay on top of everyday productivity challenges and get more done.

Pre-workshop: A personal productivity and time management survey

Skill Drill 1: The Time Management Myth (30 minutes)
In this skill drill, we will explore the concept of opportunity cost and sunk cost fallacy. We will apply these concepts to personal time and productivity management to radically redefine how we view these topics. Participants will also explore why time management is a myth and why executives should instead focus on:

  • Managing impact
  • Managing focus
  • Managing energy 

Skill Drill 2: Productivity Hacks – Tools for Managing Impact and Focus (2 hours)
Managing impact is about prioritizing and choosing the tasks that have the maximum impact towards your goals while ensuring that routine tasks do not pile up. The Japanese Kanban methodology is a framework that relies on simple techniques like visualizing the flow of work and reducing work-in-progress to dramatically improve everyday workplace productivity. In this experiential, simulation driven workshop, participants explore the Kanban framework and apply it to everyday work. In this section, participants will:

  • Explore the Kanban framework
  • Understand the core principles of Kanban – visualizing the flow of work and reducing work-in-progress
  • Manage and maintain a personal Kanban board
  • Use applications and technology to manage personal and team Kanban boards
  • Identify simple rules to prioritise and reprioritise tasks 

Skill Drill 3: Tools for Managing Focus (30 minutes) In this skill drill, we will explore what stops us from achieving peak productivity. We will work through activities and exercises to identify the root causes and discuss strategies to mitigate their effect. We will cover the following pitfalls – Distractions, Multi-tasking, Interruptions and Perfectionism. We learn techniques to give up multitasking and focus on Unitasking instead.

In this section, participants will explore:

  • Why multitasking is a myth
  • Appreciate the importance of Unitasking
  • Apply effective tools for Unitasking including the Pomodoro technique and working in short sprints

Skill Drill 3: Tools for Managing Energy (30 minutes)
The human body requires energy restoration at frequent intervals to stay in tune and perform at peak levels. In this skill drill, participants will discover the following tools restore their energy at work:

  • Mindfulness
  • Meditation
  • Breathing techniques
  • Food and rest
  • Managing work stress
  • Managing work from home
